When blackberries are in season you have got to try this recipe. The crunchy cobbler mixed with the sweet and tangy flavor of the blackberries is the way to go.
Ingredients -
1/2 cup butter
SYRUP:
1 cup white sugar
1 cup room temperature water
COBBLER:
1 1/2 cup self-rising flour
1 cup salted butter
1/3 cup whole milk, room temperature
2 cup blackberries, fresh or frozen
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoon sugar
Preparation:
Melt 1/2 cup butter in a 10 inch round baking dish.
Set aside.
Make the cobbler dough by cutting the butter into the flour until the dough looks like crumbs.
Add the milk and mix with a fork until the dough leaves the side of the bowl.
Turn out on a floured surface.
Knead 3 or 4 times.
Roll out to 11 x 9 x 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
Spread the blackberries over the dough.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and roll up like a jelly roll.
Cut into 1 1/4 inch thick slices.
Carefully place in the pan over melted butter.
Pour the sugar syrup carefully around the slices.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Fifteen minutes before removing from the oven, sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar over crust.
Serve warm or cold.
